A boat fire at Lake Pleasant left four people injured Sunday, according to the Maricopa County Sheriffs office.

The boat caught fire after refueling, leaving one 50-year-old man with burns on about 70 percent of his body. According to officials. He was flown to a hospital in critical condition.

A 30-year-old man suffered minor burns, MCSO said. But Peoria police said he declined to be taken to a hospital.

Tim Eiden with the Peoria Fire Department said the fire happened at Scorpion Bay fuel dock, where there was a flash explosion.

Two others were at the marina and were treated for smoke inhalation, Eiden said. MCSO described one of the others treated as a worker.

Phoenix fire assisted with extinguishing the boat, which was “completely destroyed,” Peoria fire said.

The boat was  described as a cabin cruiser by officials.

The cause of the explosion is unknown at this time but officials said they are investigating.
