After being asked about it nearly every day, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo on Friday formally announced his five-man starting rotation.

Lovullo had already named right-hander Zack Greinke as his Opening Day starter, but prior to Arizona’s Cactus League game against the Dodgers at Camelback Ranch-Glendale, he also named his other four starters – left-handers Robbie Ray and Patrick Corbin and right-handers Taijuan Walker and Shelby Miller.

Right-hander Archie Bradley, who had been vying for a starting role, was told by the manager on Friday that he would start the season in the bullpen as the Diamondbacks’ long reliever.

Asked how he feels about his starting pitchers, plus Bradley, Lovullo said: “Great. I better feel great about it, right? I feel great about those five guys. That entire group came to spring training ready for competition, they performed, and those are things that I appreciate because it’s not easy to compete with some distractions and they did a great job.”

Lovullo did not specify the order of the four pitchers following Greinke, saying: “There could be some moving parts. When it’s time to give the order, we’ll give that out to you when we finalize it.”

If the Diamondbacks need an emergency starter, would they turn to Bradley first or call up a starter from Triple-A Reno?

“At this point, we don’t know. We’re not focused on that right now. We do have some really good depth in this organization,” Lovullo said. “This conversation has not been had, but I’m sure that Archie, right now if something were to happen, would be a consideration. But that’s not any thought that we’re having right now.”

Earlier Friday, the Diamondbacks made four roster moves by reassigning outfielder Oswaldo Arcia, catcher Josh Thole and pitchers Brian Matusz and Erik Davis to minor-league camp.

Also on Friday, the Diamondbacks announced they have outrighted and returned right-hander Tyler Jones, a Rule 5 Draft choice, back to the Yankees. Friday’s moves leaves the Diamondbacks with 39 players on the 40-man roster.
