A car struck a utility box in Scottsdale, cutting power to about 1,700 APS customers Wednesday morning, officials said.

According to Scottsdale police, the outage is affecting traffic signals on Hayden Road between Via Linda and Mountain View Road.

Kevin Watts, a Scottsdale Police Department spokesman, said the cause of the single-vehicle collision at Hayden and Mountain View roads is under investigation.

APS said power is slowly being restored to affected customers, with total restoration expected by 2:30 p.m. So far, about 1,000 customers have been brought back online.
