Drivers heading south on Interstate 17 should expect their trip to take a little longer due to a crash that closed the left lane near Black Canyon City.
The Arizona Department of Transportation tweeted that the multi-vehicle crash blocked the highway’s left lane near milepost 240.
When someone asked ADOT if the crash blocked any lanes, the agency responded that traffic was delayed in both directions due to rubbernecking.
A later update from ADOT on Twitter said the crash was then moved off the road to the right shoulder, but continued delays were expected “due to volume and rubbernecking.”
ADOT didn’t offer an estimate as to when the roadway would be clear.
