A vehicle that crashed into a power pole in west Phoenix is causing a power outage in the area, according to an email from Phoenix Police Department Officer Luis Samudio.

The crash occurred near the intersection of 51st Avenue and Van Buren Street. That intersection will remain closed from traffic for an unknown period of time, police said. Public transportation is also being diverted to other roadways.

SRP reported an outage at 6:24 p.m. that is impacting an area from 55th to 39th avenues, and West McDowell to West Buckeye roads, according to its website.

Power lines and two power poles are down in the area, and SRP crews are working to restore service.
