After record-breaking heat last week, metro Phoenix will be seeing cooler weather and rainy days ahead. 

Residents woke up to a cloudy morning on Sunday with the smell of desert rain in the air. Isolated showers were reported throughout the Valley. 

Chances of rain will remain for the day at 10 percent, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast calls for highs that will hover around 69 to 72 degrees and evening lows at 49 to 57 degrees. 

Cooler temps are expected to last through the start of the week, along with increased chances of showers and thunderstorms, the weather service said. 

The forecast for Monday calls for 40 percent chance of rain, with highs between 77 to 81 degrees. Evening lows are expected to be between 52 to 58 degrees, with chances for thunderstorms throughout the night.

On Tuesday, chances for thunderstorms will remain, with a 60 percent chance for showers. The highs are expected to be in the low 70s and temperatures in the low 50s in the evening.
