There are now two active NFL starting quarterbacks who went to an Arizona high school or college.

After throwing three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to rally the Chicago Bears to a 30-26 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, former Arizona Wildcats quarterback Nick Foles will take over as the starting QB in Chicago, Bears coach Matt Nagy announced Monday.

Foles finished with 188 yards on 16-of-29 passing in relief of Mitchell Trubisky, who was benched in the third quarter.

“It’s not easy coming in cold like that,” Foles told reporters. “But if you can approach it with a mindset of ‘Hey, one play at a time, you can’t get all those points back in one throw,’ that helps a lot.”

Foles wasn’t the only Arizona college or high school connection to shine in Week 3 of the season.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who went to Gilbert Highland High, completed 18-of-20 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns, while also running for a score, in Miami’s 31-13 win over Jacksonville on Thursday night.

“Fitz is out of his mind,” Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki told reporters. “To have him as our leader and to see the fun that he has, it’s so fun.”

Aiyuk finished with five catches for 70 yards and three rushes for 31 yards.
