Metro Phoenix will boast thousands of classic and collector cars this month when the Barrett-Jackson and Mecum auto auctions return to Arizona.

Mecum Auctions is up first, taking place March 18-20 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. Next is Barrett-Jackson; it’s March 20-27 at WestWorld of Scottsdale.

Some of the cars being auctioned have had well-known owners, including the late actor Paul Walker, retired pro racer Roger Penske and automotive designer Carroll Shelby.

Shelby’s one-of-a-kind car, the 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake that set a record when it was sold in 2007 for $5.5 million, will make its return to Barrett-Jackson on March 27.

Here are the highlights, safety measures and event details for the Barrett-Jackson and Mecum auto auctions.
