A 3-year-old who was pulled from a Buckeye pool on Sunday evening has since died, police said.
The toddler’s grandfather was the one who pulled the toddler from the pool.
Officials arrived at the home near Baseline and South Rocks roads on Sunday evening and the toddler was immediately taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The child died later that night, according to Buckeye police. Neither Buckeye police nor fire officials have publicly identified the child.
“Pool fences or barriers can only do so much,” Buckeye fire Capt. Tommy Taylor said. “Watching over young children around pools is the best way to ensure their safety.”
