What is a Silent Witness and how do you become one?

The body of a Prescott woman who went missing last week was found buried in a remote area 10 miles northwest of her home Friday afternoon, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sandra Pagniano was last seen on May 19.

Her 55-year-old husband, David Pagniano, was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of second-degree murder in her disappearance and remains in custody at the Camp Verde Detention Center on a $2 million bond, according to YCSO spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn.

YCSO investigators said they had obtained sufficient evidence to believe that Pagniano could have been harmed or killed by her husband, D’Evelyn said.

A friend filed a missing person’s report on May 21 after Pagniano didn’t show up to a scheduled social event, according to officials.

The couple were separated but still living in the same Prescott-area home, D’Evelyn said.

The couple had two girls, ages 8 and 12, who are currently under “monitored care,” D’Evelyn said.
