A barricade situation was unfolding in west Phoenix following an early morning armed robbery on Saturday, police said.
Police responded to a business near 75th Avenue and Camelback Road at around 1:30 a.m. after receiving reports that a man and woman had entered the store and pointed a handgun at someone while taking merchandise, police spokeswoman Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said.
The suspects fled in a vehicle prior to the officers’ arrival and a description of the vehicle was given to all patrol units, Fortune said.
Later in the morning, officers saw a vehicle matching the description and initiated a stop. The suspects fled the scene and made it into a residence near 91st Avenue and Bell Road, Fortune said.
Officers have been attempting to contact the suspects throughout the morning, she said.
As of 7:45 a.m., the suspects had not exited the residence.
No further details were immediately available.
