Arizona State University police officials announced Saturday a sexual assault was reported to have occurred a day earlier near a building on the Tempe campus.
Police initially reported the victim was followed by a man, who she did not know, from a light rail station onto campus, according to an online ASU Clery Alert.
On Monday, ASU police tweeted the victim was made to feel uncomfortable by a man while riding public transportation to the light rail. She fled onto campus after the man followed her off the bus.
“When she tried to evade him, he grabbed her and engaged in sexual activity without her consent,” the Clery alert stated.
The victim is not affiliated with the university, and police said they believe the man also does not have a university connection. Police are still looking for the man.
The assault is being investigated as an isolated incident.
The male suspect was described as having light skin, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and having a bald head and short mustache. The man also walked with a limp and was last seen wearing a dirty white shirt and jeans.
ASU police are also investigating a sexual assault that was reported last Tuesday. The incident took place in a residential hall on the Tempe campus.
The suspect in that incident, who police say is not known to the victim, reportedly “engaged in sexual activity with a woman without her consent.”
No arrest has been made in that incident.
