ASU: Barry Bonds, the major league career and single-season home run leader, will return to ASU for a game in which the Sun Devils will wear Bonds’ throwback uniforms from the 1980s. Bonds played at ASU from 1983-85, hitting 45 career homers and playing on two College World Series teams. ASU is 10-12, 1-5 Pac-12 after dropping two of three games at USC last weekend. Freshman 1B Lyle Lin is up to 11 multi-hit games and has reached base in all but one game. The Sun Devils remain at home for a series against UCLA starting Friday. They must win at least 20 of their final 33 games to extend their national record for consecutive 30-win seasons to 55.

Eight players are from Arizona, including Ames, leading hitter Ernie De La Trinidad (.375) and Cooper Esmay, son of former ASU coach Tim Esmay. Former ASU All-American Kevin Higgins is UNLV’s associate head coach and Baseball Hall of Famer Greg Maddux is the pitching coach on a team that includes his son, Chase.
