There was once again be a large contingent of former Arizona high school softball players in the NCAA Softball Tournament.

35 former Arizona high school players were listed on the rosters of the 64 teams in the tournament, which began with the regional round last weekend.

BYU had the most former Arizona standouts on its roster with eight.

Arizona and ASU each had five.

New Mexico State had three former high school players from the state, while Princeton and Wisconsin each had two.

Arizona, with its five former Arizona high school standouts, is the No. 2 seed nationally.

It is the only nationally seeded team with a former Arizona high school softball player on its roster.

It is also the only team with a high school player from Arizona that made it past the regional round.

The Wildcats will host Baylor in the Super Regionals this weekend. The winner of that Super Regional advances to the Women’s College World Series.

If any former Arizona high school softball players are to help their team reach the Women’s College World Series in 2017, they will have to be someone of the Arizona Wildcats’ roster.
