Arizona State cornerback Armand Perry is retiring from football due to injuries.
The redshirt junior announced his decision via social media Wednesday. The decision was not a surprise. Perry sat out spring practice and was believed to be considering taking a medical redshirt that allows him to retain his scholarship in order to complete his degree.
Perry started 10 games in 2016 and was ASU’s third-leading tackler (59). He started two games in 2015 then missed the rest of what would be a redshirt season. In 2014, he played in every game as a true freshman out of Las Vegas Bishop Gorman High School.
Perry’s brother Alex is among eight defensive backs in ASU’s incoming class.
