Pencils are the preferred percussion instrument of fidgety students worldwide.

And now the art of the pencil musicianship has the Internet humming along.

A video posted on YouTube by Dani Ochoa, a 19-year-old Arizona college student, went viral, pulling in more than 2.4 million views at the time of this writing.

The video, posted Wednesday, shows Ochoa writing an algebraic equation to the rhythm of the “Cantina Theme,” from “Star Wars: A New Hope.”

“It started with x+4,” Ochoa wrote in a tweet, “and I couldn’t unhear it.”

The pencil’s scratching on paper is what creates the song’s melody.

Ochoa’s 17 second video made it to the No. 1 spot on YouTube’s trending section Thursday.

The video has become so popular that it caught the attention of “Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill on Twitter, who rewteeted Ochoa’s original post about the video.

She published a second video shortly after.

Listen to the ‘Imperial March’

Her “‘Imperial March’ played on pencil” video garnered more than 900,000 views at the time of writing.

With her musical skills with a pencil, maybe Ochoa should start a band? She could call it Lead Zeppelin.
