Odds for the 2021 NFL draft are out and the Arizona Cardinals are favored to go with a defensive player in the first round on April 29.

More specifically, they are favored to go with a cornerback with their first pick, the No. 16 pick in the draft.

BetMGM recently released odds puts the Cardinals at +125 to take a cornerback.

It has Arizona at +450 for an offensive lineman, +500 for a defensive lineman, +500 for a wide receiver and +550 for a linebacker.

It has the Cardinals at +3500 to select a running back in the first round.

BetOnline puts Arizona at -250 to take a defensive player with its first pick and has the team at +170 to go with an offensive player.

Arizona Cardinals NFL draft coverage:

Who could Cardinals target in first round?

If the Cardinals do indeed go with a cornerback, as BetMGM suggests, South Carolina’s Jaycee Horn and Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley have been linked to the team in a lot of recent NFL mock drafts.

Patrick Surtain II out of Alabama is another option, but most mock drafts have him going well before the Cardinals pick at No. 16.

Northwestern’s Greg Newsome II is another option at No. 16, or perhaps Arizona could trade down in the first round and still land him, should they really want a cornerback.

Alijah Vera-Tucker out of USC has been linked to the Cardinals in many recent mock drafts, if Arizona decides to go with an offensive lineman.

As for defensive linemen, Christian Barmore out of Alabama could be the team’s pick at the position in the first round or Michigan edge rusher Kwity Paye or perhaps Miami edge rusher Gregory Rousseau.

Alabama’s Jaylen Waddle and Devonta Smith could be possibilities for the Cardinals at wide receiver. Both of the former Crimson Tide wideouts have been linked to Arizona in projections.

Georgia’s Azeez Ojulari could be Arizona’s pick if it chooses to go with a linebacker at No. 16. So could Penn State’s Micah Parsons.

The long odds on a running back could be very interesting. The Cardinals could decide to trade down and take Alabama’s Najee Harris or Clemson’s Travis Etienne later in the first round.

Who do you think the team will pick in the first round next Thursday?
