Giants 12, Diamondbacks 4

At Scottsdale Stadium

On the mound: RHP Archie Bradley allowed three runs – only one of them earned – through four innings on Sunday. He gave up five hits with no walks and two strikeouts. That is considerably better than his last outing in which he allowed six earned runs on six hits in just 1 1/3 innings of work in a loss against Oakland. A throwing error by Bradley helped lead to a three-run second inning for the Giants on Sunday. “I saw a bunch of positives today, even in that second inning,” Bradley said. “I had to work through that bases-loaded situation and obviously gave up some runs, but that’s going to happen throughout the course of a season every now and then and you’ve got to find a way to pitch through it, pick up teammates, pick up yourself for the error I made and just find a way to pitch out of a jam.” … RHP Enrique Burgos got roughed up during a shaky fifth inning, allowing four runs on four hits with a walk. … Earlier in the day, RHP Shelby Miller pitched in a minor league game at Salt River Fields to stay on schedule for an upcoming split-squad game. “He did very well,” manager Torey Lovullo said. “He threw four innings, 60 pitches, he had no walks and it looked like he was commanding the ball real, real well. Those are tough games, tough environments for guys to walk into, but he didn’t let that affect him. He went out there and was focused and did his job.”

CACTUS LEAGUE: Coverage from azcentral sports and ASU’s Cronkite School

At the plate: CF A.J. Pollock hit his first home run of the spring, a leadoff shot to left-center field to open the game. He left an inning later with what the team said was mild left groin tightness and will be evaluated further on Monday. Evan Marzilli replaced Pollock and went 3 for 4. … C Jeff Mathis, batting ninth, had two singles and scored a run. … 3B Jake Lamb went 0 for 1 and walked twice. He is now batting .500 for the spring.

Extra bases: Right-handed reliever Silvino Bracho exited Venezuela’s 11-10 victory over Italy in the World Baseball Classic with a right hamstring injury and is returning to the Valley. He was expected to be evaluated by Diamondbacks medical personal on Monday or Tuesday. Lovullo said injuries were bound to occur during WBC play, although he’s a firm believer in the tournament. “Anytime you put on a uniform or step on the field, whether it’s practice or whether it’s a game, you’re at risk,” he said. “We know that these things happen. It’s all been outlined to these players from Day One that injuries are a part of the game. So we’re not really concerned when or how it happens; they were competing, they were doing their best and unfortunately (he) was just injured.” … Saturday’s crowd of 13,557 against the Giants set an attendance record at Salt River Fields. The previous high was 13,514 on March 12 a year ago against the Royals.

Monday: Off day.

Tuesday’s game: Diamondbacks TBA vs. Rangers TBA, 1:10 p.m., Salt River Fields.
