Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Jake Holmes, Phoenix Pinnacle, SS, Sr.

This Arizona State signee was awarded Offensive Player of the Between The Lines national tournament at Phoenix Horizon. In the 3-2 championship win over Stillwater, Okla., Holmes had three hits and scored the winning run from second on a base hit in the seventh inning. He  went 9 for 14 with two home runs in the tournament.

Pitcher of the Week

Colin King, Horizon, Sr.

He tossed a four-hitter in a win against Cherokee Trail, which returned key players from last year’s Colorado state championship team. King struck out nine, walked one and gave up just two earned runs.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week

Daniel Vizcaya, Winslow, INF, Jr.

In 3A wins over Fort Defiance Window Rock and Chinle, he had a total of five hits, seven runs scored, six RBIs , two doubles and a triple, as team improved to 6-2-1.

Pitcher of the Week

Israel Loveall, Bagdad, Jr.

In a 3-2 win over 3A Chino Valley, the 1A pitcher scattered six hits in seven innings, giving up one earned run, walking none and striking out six.

March 6-11

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Nolan Gorman, Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor, 3B, Jr.

He hit four home runs in three games, three of those in a split against Anthem Boulder Creek, two in a 7-1 win. He also had five RBIs in the win. He had seven RBIs on the week, and  raised his batting average to .350. Gorman leads the state with six home runs.

Pitcher of the Week

Fernando Leal, Glendale Apollo, Jr.

He improved to 4-0, tossing a complete-game, four-hit shutout in a 7-0 win over Glendale Independence. He struck out six and walked none, throwing a total of 75 pitches.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Hitter of the Week

Obed Cordova, Bisbee, 3B, Sr.

He went 3 for 3 with three doubles and five RBIs in a 14-9 win over Tombstone. In four games, he had eight hits, a home run, four doubles and nine RBIs.

Pitcher of the Week

Kameron Quinto, Scottsdale Christian, Sr.

In a 16-3 rout of Fountain Hills, Quinto gave up three hits and one earned run and struck out 10 and walked none.

Feb. 27-March 4

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Kody Huff, Phoenix Horizon, C, So.

During a 3-0 run for the top-ranked team in the state, Huff went 8 for 13 with two doubles, a home run, two RBIs and six runs scored from the leadoff spot.

Pitcher of the Week

Maverick Williams, Anthem Boulder Creek, Sr.

He pitched a no-hitter against Chandler Basha, a five-inning, 10-0 victory shortened by the run rule. He faced the minimum of 15 batters over five innings. He walked a batter in the first inning, but he was picked off at first base to end the inning.

Hitter of the Week

Bryce Andrashie, Fountain Hills, SS, Sr.

Coming off leading his basketball team to the state championship, Andrashie hit .750 (9 for 12) with six runs, six RBIs, a double and two triples in four games during the weekend.

Pitcher of the Week

Rhett Ricedorff, Show Low, Sr.

In a 2-1 win over San Manuel, Ricedorff threw five innings of one-hit ball, striking out four, walking one and giving up no earned runs.

Feb. 20-25

Big Schools (6A-4A)

Hitter of the Week

Sasha Sneider, Phoenix Thunderbird, P/INF, Jr.

In a season-opening 5-1 win over Phoenix Arcadia, Sneider had a single, triple and the walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Pitcher of the Week

Jacob Hanna, Mesa, So.

In his first start, he pitched a perfect game in a 4-0 win over Yuma Gila Ridge, going the full seven innings, facing the minimum 21 batters, striking out five and throwing just 67 pitches.

Small Schools (3A-1A)

Gregory Boyce, Phoenix Christian, OF, Sr.

During a 3-1 start in 2A, Boyce went 9 for 13 with two home runs, a double and five RBIs.

Pitcher of the Week

Esai Vegenas, Morenci, Sr.

In a 4-1 win over Tombstone, Vegenas did not give up an earned run, giving up five hits, walking one and striking out 13.
