The Arizona Cardinals have agreed to terms with right tackle Kelvin Beachum on a two-year deal, the team announced on Tuesday.
Beachum, 31, joined the Cardinals on a one-year deal in July of 2020 and started all 16 games at right tackle. The veteran tackle and Texas native entered the league with Pittsburgh in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft, and also played for the Jaguars and the Jets prior to the Cardinals.
Active in the community and in the NFLPA, Beachum was named the Jets’ Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2018.
Shoring up Beachum also allows the Cardinals continued flexibility with Josh Jones, a third-round draft pick in 2020. Offensive line coach/run game coordinator Sean Kugler said the team was glad to use Jones as a backup in his rookie season.
“He got his feet wet last year, but he didn’t have to be pushed into a starting role,” Kugler said last month in a press conference. “He offers position flexibility, he can play tackles, he can play guard.”
