The Arizona Coyotes continued building depth via free agency Saturday, signing Johan Larsson of the Buffalo Sabres to a two-year deal, bringing back Tucson Roadrunners defenseman Jordan Gross and adding forward Dryden Hunt from the Florida Panthers.

Larsson, 28, spent the past seven seasons in Buffalo and had a career high 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) in 2019-20. But his strength has been his play in the defensive zone and on the penalty kill as a center.

Larsson and Coyotes captain Oliver Ekman-Larsson were teammates on Sweden’s gold-medal winning 2018 IHHF World Championship tournament team.

Gross, to whom the Coyotes tendered a qualifying offer as a restricted free agent, and Hunt received one-year, two-way contracts.

Gross, 25, had an assist in two games with the Coyotes in 2019-20. He made his NHL debut on December 22, 2019 at Detroit.

Gross also recorded 10 goals and 17 assists in 56 games with the Tucson Roadrunners this past season. He finished tied for first among Tucson defensemen in goals and second in points with 27.

Hunt, 24, had four assists and 24 penalty minutes in 21 games with the Florida Panthers in 2019-20, and has three goals and 12 assists in 63 career NHL games with Florida. He totaled 29 points in 35 games with the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds last season, but was not tendered a qualifying offer from Florida by Wednesday’s deadline.
