Phoenix Mercury guards Diana Taurasi and Skylar Diggins-Smith were named to the All-WNBA second team Sunday.

Taurasi’s All-WNBA selection is her 14th, extending her league record. Diggins-Smith made All-WNBA for the fourth time in her first season with the Mercury.

A’ja Wilson and Candace Parker were unanimous selections to the first team from 47 voters including the Republic’s Jeff Metcalfe. Both had 235 points in voting.

Earlier, Wilson of Las Vegas was announced as the WNBA Most Valuable Player and Parker of Los Angeles as the Defensive Player of the Year. 

Others on the first team are Seattle’s Breanna Stewart (233 points), Chicago’s Courtney Vandersloot (224) and Dallas’ Arike Ogunbowale (190).

Taurasi had the most votes among those on the second team with 150 followed by Connecticut’s DeWanna Bonner (135), Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier (123), Diggins-Smith (101) and Washington’s Myisha Hines-Allen (60).

Taurasi received 12 first-team votes. 

Taurasi averaged 18.7 points and 4.7 assists, finishing fifth and eighth in the league in those categories. She led the league in 3-point makes (61) for the 10th time. She was the only player to average at least 18 points, four rebounds and four assists and the 38-year-old is the only player to average such numbers at 36 or older. 

Diggins-Smith averaged 17.4 points and 4.2 assists while shooting a career high 47.4 percent from the field and 90 percent on free throws. She is the fifth player in WNBA history to average at least 17 points and four assists while shooting 47 percent.

Taurasi and Diggin-Smith were the highest scoring teammates in the league, averaging a combined 36.4 points. They were the only players in the league to make the top 10 in scoring and assists and had the most combined 3-pointers (107) by teammates.
