For four years, one site has been putting out a “30Under30” list of the top college football coaches under 30.

For the first time, the 2020 version includes an Arizona State coach.

In fact, it includes two.

ASU’s Adam Breneman, a graduate assistant, and Chris Hawkins, the team’s cornerbacks coach were included on 247Sports’ latest list of the rising college football coaches in the country.

Of Breneman, 25, Chris Hummer wrote: “A former top 50 recruit and an All-American tight end for UMass, Breneman has quickly transitioned to the coaching ranks following his playing career. Breneman joined Arizona State’s staff this offseason, and he’s established himself as a key piece for the Sun Devil operation. Breneman has been a standout recruiter also coaches the team’s tight ends. Said head coach Herm Edwards of Breneman: “We don’t want to lose him now.”

Of Hawkins, 25, Hummer wrote: “Described as a “no-brainer” for this list by head coach Edwards, Hawkins has lit it up as a recruiter early in his tenure with Arizona State. Hawkins helped land a trio of four-star prospects thus far, and he has the Sun Devils in the mix for some high-profile targets. Hawkins came to ASU from USC, where he served as a graduate assistant in 2019 following a decorated playing career in Los Angeles.”

Hawkins and Breneman are the only ASU coaches to ever make the list, as the team didn’t have any coaches included in 247Sports’ 2017, 2018 or 2019 versions.

The two coaches have played a big part is ASU’s recruiting success this offseason.

The Sun Devils’ class is currently ranked fourth in the Pac-12 for 2021 by 247Sports and No. 23 nationally.

Hawkins is ranked No. 12 on the site’s list of the top recruiters in the Pac-12.

Breneman comes in at No. 54.

The Sun Devils currently have 21 commitments for the 2021 class.

Breneman is one of four graduate assistants at ASU this season.

A former tight end at UMass and Penn State, he recently told The Arizona Republic’s Michelle Gardner that he was just learning everything he could under the other ASU coaches.

“For a young coach this is the perfect place to be,” said Breneman, who assists in coaching ASU’s tight ends. “You look at the caliber of coaches here and I’m learning every day. I’m taking notes every day. I don’t even know if they know that. This isn’t an opportunity everybody gets.”

Hawkins, a former USC player, was hired in December after previously serving as a graduate assistant for the Trojans.

“Chris impressed myself, Tony White, Antonio Pierce and Marvin Lewis as a young, up-and-coming coach who has a very bright future in our profession,” ASU coach Herm Edwards said in a statement announcing his hire. “Chris played the position at an elite level at USC and the young players in our secondary will benefit from his knowledge and experience. Chris will be instrumental in recruiting Southern California for us as well.”
