There was once again quite a few former Arizona high school baseball players in the NCAA Baseball Tournament.

26 former Arizona high school players were listed on the rosters of the 64 teams in the tournament, which began last weekend.

Not surprisingly, the Arizona Wildcats had the most former Arizona standouts of any team in the tournament on their roster with nine.

BYU came in second with five, while San Diego State was the only other team with multiple former Arizona high school standouts on its roster (2).

After the first weekend of games, just four of the 26 Arizonans in the tournament remain.

Former Paradise Valley standout Rhyse Dee’s Wake Forest team and former Tucson Rincon standout Josh Smutzer’s Davidson team have both advanced to the Super Regionals.

Also, former River Valley standout Josh Advocate’s Long Beach State team and former Sierra Vista Buena standout Matt Duce’s Dallas Baptist team are both still alive in their respective regionals.
