The Valley saw triple-digit temperatures on Memorial Day — and residents shouldn’t expect the rest of the week to be much cooler.
The National Weather Service forecast a high of 104 for Memorial Day, five degrees above average, but still eight degrees shy of the day’s record.
“It’s still going to be plenty hot out there, so people should stay hydrated,” National Weather Service Meteorologist James Sawtelle said.
Tuesday is expected to hit a high of 102 degrees before a slight dip to 100 degrees on Wednesday, and 97 degrees on Thursday.
“We have seen some clouds move in from the west,” Sawtelle said. “So, that may help us keep the temperature a degree or two cooler.”
However, highs will return to the triple digits within the next week.
“If you’re going to be outside, wear loose-fitting clothing, use sunglasses and sunscreen,” Sawtelle said.
