A Phoenix man was arrested Wednesday in the 2014 deaths of his pregnant fiancee and her unborn child.

According to police records, 28-year-old Andres Bohn Reyes knowingly denied Bridget Charlebois — who was unable to move her arms and legs because she was quadriplegic — vital medical assistance that could have saved her and her unborn son in February 2014.

Reyes is facing two counts of first-degree murder and one charge of vulnerable adult abuse.

Reyes lived with Charlebois at a Glendale apartment near Olive and 59th avenues and was employed as her caregiver at the time of her death.

Police documents allege that Charlebois could not defend herself from abuse by Reyes, which is alleged to have spanned several months.

Witnesses said Reyes previously shot Charlebois with a semi-automatic airsoft simulated handgun on two occasions in 2013, according to police reports.

Records also allege Reyes once abandoned Charlebois at their apartment for more than 12 hours as she sat in her own excrement before being rescued. Her primary-care physician said the incident could have resulted in her death or serious physical injury, records state.

The abuse is reported to have culminated between Jan. 30 and Feb. 2, 2014, when Charlebois fell ill and required medical attention. Reyes, as a caregiver, was trained to provide medical assistance and notify emergency medical services but failed to do so.

Charlebois died along with her unborn son. Evidence discovered during an autopsy showed proper medical attention may have prevented the deaths, records state.

A probable cause statement from Glendale police did not disclose Charlebois’ cause of death.

The records state Reyes was also wanted on a felony child-abuse warrant from California.

Reyes was being held Friday in the 4th Avenue Jail on a $250,000 bond. His next hearing is scheduled May 25 at Maricopa County Superior Court in downtown Phoenix.
