Have you ever wondered where that thing you left or lost at a TSA security checkpoint ended up? The government sells it at a huge discount.

If you couldn’t bring it on a plane — or, worse yet, left the security checkpoint without it — it could have been on sale in Phoenix on Friday.
Baseball bats, watches, golf clubs and much more was available at the Arizona Department of Administration’s monthly retail sale, which included items surrendered to the Transportation Security Administration at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.
The sale of government surplus property drew bargain hunters from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.Friday at 1537 W. Jackson St. in Phoenix.
Most of the items at the live sale were listed for $1 or $2, although other items, such as Fossil watches or computer monitors, were priced at $50 or higher.

“I’m addicted to bargain shopping,” said Lynette Cornell, who examined bins of tools, shelves of snow globes and tables covered in golf clubs.
She also added that she has surrendered items to the TSA.
Elizabeth Bartholomew, the legislative liaison and communications manager for the Arizona Department of Administration, said, “The money we get from them we put back into the general fund, so it’s a great save for the taxpayers.”
A state surplus-property auction is planned Saturday, starting at 8 a.m. This will include bigger items, such as cars, vending machines and other large machinery.
The state will host the retail day every first Friday of the month from 8 a.m. till 4 p.m. at The Surplus Property Management Office.
The auction will be hosted three times a year at the same location.
