A toddler was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in a shopping-center parking lot in south Phoenix on Thursday night, police said.
The accident happened about 7:40 p.m., near Seventh Street and Baseline Road, Phoenix police said.
Witnesses told officers a 3-year-old boy had run into a parking lot and was struck, police said.
The child was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The driver remained on the scene and impairment did not appear to be a factor, police said.
The investigation was ongoing Thursday night.
