While St. Patrick’s Day isn’t traditionally a party holiday, here in America, it’s become a good excuse to pack the pubs, dance to some upbeat Celtic tunes and drink green-tinted beers.
This year, the holiday falls on a Saturday, so you know there will be more parties than you can handle. Just be sure to drink responsibly and get home safely.
Here’s 20 parties across Phoenix to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
Seamus McCaffrey’s
Seamus McCaffrey’s annual party will take place in the bar and outside on Monroe Street in downtown Phoenix. The bash features live music from Seanachie from noon to 3 p.m., Saints of Eirinn from 4 to 8 p.m. and Traveler from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Traditional Irish fare, including corned beef and cabbage, corned-beef sandwiches and Irish stew, will be $10 each, and there will also be whiskey cake. Proceeds will go to the United Phoenix Firefighters Emerald Society.

The Dubliner
The north Phoenix pub will feature 10 bands throughout the day, as well as Irish dancers and bagpipe performers. Patrons can enjoy the traditional Irish buffet for $11.99 and drink specials throughout the day.

Shamrock Fest
The second annual festival at downtown Chandler’s Murphy’s Law will take place at Dr. AJ Chandler Park. Entertainment will be provided by Alien Ant Farm, Wyves, Highest Conspiracy, Carvin Jones and more. The bash will also feature a beer and cocktail garden, bagpipe players, giant beer pong and jumbo corn hole, local vendors, food trucks and more. The event is family-friendly, and there will be a kids zone to keep your little ones busy.

Rosie McCaffrey’s Irish Restaurant and Pub
The popular Phoenix pub opens at 8 a.m., and this year’s party will benefit the Fallen Heroes Wreath Program Arizona. Start the morning off with an Irish coffee and a full Irish breakfast. Music starts on the main stage outside at 10 a.m. with the Whiskey Rats, followed by AZ Seanachie and then Stranted Campers. Inside, Stilicho will start performing at 8:30 p.m.

McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon
Get to the Westgate Entertainment District pub starting at 6 a.m. for the kegs and eggs breakfast. Throughout the day and night, there will be Lucky-Charms-eating contests, a dunk tank, green-bikini contests, bag pipes, face-painting, green beer and Irish fare. Party guests can enter for a chance to win a trip to Ireland. Packages are available.

The Chandler pub is starting the celebration early with nine days of parties. The fun starts March 9 with the Saints of Eirinn; the Spirited Lads on March 10; Frank Mackey on March 11; David McDerry on March 12; Lenny Kelleher on March 13; an acoustic performance by Saints of Eirinn on March 14; Ward of the Kings on March 15 and then the Big Fellahs on March 16. On St. Patrick’s Day, the pub hosts a block party, with music starting at 11:30 a.m. featuring Wide Awake, Spirited Lads, Open Beta and Whisky Rats.

This north Scottsdale Irish pub hosts five days of entertainment. March 13 is the Irish Pub Quiz; Ronnie Winters will perform March 14; Mike Maleckar will be on stage on March 15 and Purely Simple will play on March 16. On St. Patrick’s Day, the lineup features the Spirited Lads, Open Beta, Wide Awake and Lenny Kelleher.

The longtime Irish pub will host a bash featuring bagpipers, Irish step dancers and an Irish fiddler duo. The bar will server “monster-sized” green beers, and food options include corned beef and cabbage, Reuben sandwiches and shepherd’s pie. Dueling piano performers will play from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Irish Wolfhound Restaurant and Pub
This West Valley bar will feature music all day long on St. Patrick’s Day, as well as an outdoor tented area with more bars, bagpipers and Irish dancers. The celebration will start with the Spirited Lads, Pete Cummings Band, the CheekTones, Faded Jeans and Tripwire. A portion of the proceeds will go to Surprise Firefighters Charities. After 8 p.m., no one younger than 21 years old is allowed in the bar. The event will be cash only.

The St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the Mill Avenue pub features performances by bagpipers and Irish step dancers. Music begins at 1 p.m. with Trevor Jones, Whisky Rats and the Sullivans. The festival also includes Guinness, Teeling Whiskey, Jameson and Tullamore Dew promotions.

Scottsdale Shamrock Crawl
Scottsdale Bar Crawls hosts this St Paddy’s Day pub crawl, which will include stops at Bevvy, Whiskey Row, Old Town Gringos, Wasted Grain and others. Participants receive three vouchers for1-cent drinks, which must be used at certain times. Check the website for the full schedule, which will be announced on March 16.

Tim Finnegan’s Irish Restaurant & Bar
This is the first St. Patrick’s Day for the Irish pub in its new Glendale location. The bar will feature a performance by Jason Devore of Authority Zero on Friday night. On Saturday, the bar opens at 7 a.m. with an outdoor tent and Trotters Wake going on stage at 11 a.m. At 4 p.m., Harley O’ Davidson will perform, and Wide Awake will close out the night starting at 8 p.m. Want to keep the party going? Head back to the bar on Sunday afternoon for Frank Makay.

Padre Murphy’s
This 25th annual event features a big outdoor tent and a full day of music, including performances by Status, the Herndon Brothers, Mesa Caldedonian Pipe Band, bagpipers and more. Starting at 11 a.m., guests can dine on corned beef and cabbage, Bailey’s cheesecake and enjoy green drinks. Leprechauns, face painters and clowns will be at the bar up until 5 p.m. when it’s family-friendly, then it will turn into a 21-and-older venue after.

If you’re looking for a different atmosphere, head to one of the Sandbar locations for St. Patrick’s Day. Drink specials include $3 green beer, $5 Shamrock-aritas and baby Guinness beers, and $6 Irish Car Bombs. Corned-beef-and-cabbage tacos will be served all day for $13. DJs will perform all night long. And if you’re out on Friday night, the bartenders will tap the green beer kegs at 5 p.m.

Opening up at 6 a.m., this Scottsdale bar with a sprawling patio starts St. Patrick’s Day off with a Kegs and Eggs Party, featuring green-tortilla burritos, green pancakes and green beer. Live music starts at 3 p.m. with Dayweather, followed by the Black Moods at 9 p.m., and DJ Area 4 playing in between.

Trevor Jones goes on stage at 11 a.m., then Harley Harkins and Glendale Pipes and Drums will play at 1 p.m., and ending with Stompbox and High Plains Hangover, who will play in the evening. There will also be green beer and shot promos throughout the day. On Sunday, Clancy’s hosts a brunch.

The Sheila Maguire Band will play at 1 p.m., Karen O. takes the stage at 5 p.m., and the Crown Kings close out the evening starting at 9 p.m. Bartenders will be pouring green beers, Jameson and Guinness and Smithwick’s, which will all be on special.
