Phoenix police responded to a two-vehicle collision near 38th Street and University Drive that killed an elderly woman on Friday afternoon.
“Officers learned that the vehicle driven by the 78-year-old female was traveling south on 38th street and did not yield to a vehicle traveling east on University Drive,” police spokeswoman Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said.
The 78-year-old driver was transported to a local hospital where she died.
The other driver remained at the scene and his injuries were not life-threatening, Fortune said.
Police do not believe impairment was a factor in the collision, which occurred about 12:45 p.m.
