A 3-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was pulled from a backyard pool in Glendale on Saturday, according to the Glendale Fire Department.
Fire officials said the family was hosting a backyard party with 12 people when the girl was pulled out of the pool at an Airbnb rental near Loop 101 and 59th Avenue at about 4 p.m.
A family member and a neighbor who is a nurse performed CPR until emergency responders arrived, officials said. The child didn’t have a pulse and wasn’t responding. She was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
“This is why we tell people to designate a water watcher, someone whose sole job is to watch the water and ensure everyone’s safety,” Glendale fire spokesperson Ashley Losch said in an email.
