A Sun City Fire Department ambulance was struck by another vehicle Friday afternoon, sending two firefighters to the hospital, officials said.

The accident occurred at the intersection of 111th Avenue and Florida Avenue in Sun City, said Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Two Fire Department employees in the ambulance were transported from the scene with injuries that were not life-threatening, Enriquez said.

The ambulance was traveling with sirens and lights on when another vehicle failed to yield and collided with the ambulance, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Jeep SUV, was not seriously injured and refused treatment at the scene.
