A man with a tattoo on his right forearm tried to kidnap a 10-year-old boy Monday morning in Buckeye, officials said.

The man reportedly grabbed a boy outside the child’s home in a community southwest of Elliot at Tuthill roads just after 8 a.m., according to Sgt.

Joaquin Enriquez, a spokesman for the  Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

“The boy was able to get away from and flee the abductor,” Enriquez said.

The would-be kidnapper is described as a man of average height with dark hair and a tattoo on his right forearm.

Not long after the kidnapping attempt, deputies found a man suspected of burglarizing a home in the area and took him into custody, Enriquez said. While initially believed to be a “person of interest,” Enriquez said deputies have since determined the burglary suspect had no connection with the near-abduction case.
