A 1-year-old girl was said to be in “extremely critical condition” after she was found submerged in a bucket full of water in her family’s backyard Tuesday in Phoenix.

Firefighters arrived at the home in the 19200 block of North 39th Place to find the child “unresponsive and not breathing,” according to Capt. Rod McDade, a Phoenix fire spokesman.

The girl’s parents told firefighters the child was found in a bucket of water.
