Someone in a vehicle fired shots at another vehicle traveling north on 91st Avenue near Campbell Avenue at 3:40 a.m. Monday, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The adult male driver of the vehicle was traveling north on 91st Avenue when he was struck by gunfire and sustained life-threatening injuries. After he was wounded, his vehicle came to a stop on 91st Avenue.

Phoenix police did not identify either driver and said there were no additional details available.

Traffic was shut down Monday morning from Indian School to Camelback roads on 91st Avenue in both directions, officials said. 

There is no estimated time for when the roadway will reopen.
